Title:: Officer Helm
Fandom: Forgotten Realms
Summary: Cyric, Iyachtu Xvim, Selvetarm, and Vhaeraun air their Issues.

Notes and Warnings: This is a songfic of West Side Story's "Officer Krupke" that I wrote a few years back. It's a scriptfic as well, so I didn't want to risk posting it on fanfiction.net. Instead I put it on a webhost which has since gone down. I'm reposting it with a couple tweaks. Hope someone enjoys!

Title: Walls and Woes
Fandom: Forgotten Realms
Rating: PG
Word Count:~1200
Summary: In a world where evil is good and lawful is chaotic, Jergal is a mooch and Kelemvor Lyonsbane does what he wants.

Notes and Warnings: Part of the bizarro-verse I hope to write more in. Game-stats wise, Kelemvor and Jergal are Chaotic Neutral, Cyric is Lawful Good, Mystra is Neutral Evil, and Shar is Neutral Good (as was Myrkul).

Contains shameless irreverence and playing fast-and-loose with cosmology.

What is that wall doing here, anyway? )
teakay: (I triumphed unfairly most fairly!)
Title: Hatred and Treachery Tyrson
Fandom: Marvel Cinematic Universe (Thor) with dashes of mythology and comics canon.
Rating: PG-13
Word Count:: ~7000
Summary: For this prompt on Norsekink, in which Fenrir is impregnated by eating Tyr's hand and Loki demands a shotgun wedding.
Notes and Warnings: Contains mpreg, forced genderbending, the mental equivalent of teenage pregnancy, dubiously consensual marriage, allusions to parent-child incest (none of the latter three with actual sex), Odin engaging in A+ grandparenting.

Fenrir and Tyr's relationship is inspired by Villy Sorensen's take in The Downfall of the Gods. A Finnish name shows up in Asgard due to Finland's proximity to Viking stomping grounds and as homage to its particular mythological tradition of being knocked up by eating random shit. Takes the "everyone-loves-Balder" thing to one of its logical conclusions. ETA: Tyr's parentage is partly derived from the poem Hymiskvida, in which his father is the Jotun Hymir and he sets off with Thor to borrow his Jotun-size cauldron for a party.

So it came to pass that Fenrir Lokason, indisputably the most famous wolf on Asgard for reasons other than he'd been given to expect, found he had one further thing in common with his father. )

Title: A Fenrir Cautionary Tale
Fandom: Old World of Darkness (Werewolf: the Apocalypse)
Rating: PG-13
Summary: One Garou take on human-told Norse mythology.
Word Count: ~400
Notes and Warnings: Contains values dissonance and mythological mpreg. I did not invent the term "octohorse."

"Sadly, much was lost between what little of the truth the humans heard and what they wound up telling their children. [...] For one, they held that Loki, who was some sort of sorcerer or the like, birthed Great Fenris. Ha! As if his Mother Gaia would have lain with such a snake!" – Krister Voice-of-Alfar, Tribebook: Get of Fenris (Revised Edition)

So once, long before the binding of Great Fenris, there was a Ragabash called Loki Sky-Walker, and he was the biggest Ragabash there ever was. )

While kicking back after final exams and virus mayhem, I realized I haven't crossposted this fic here yet. Have at!

Title: The Celebrated and the Rehabilitated
Section: Part I: How We Got Here
Fandom: DC Animated Universe
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Post-"A Better World." The Justice Lords have vanished, but the regime they've set in place hasn't. Lisa Snart, Axel Walker, Owen Mercer, Alvin Desmond and Evan McCulloch are part of a new generation of Rogues doing their best to save the world and save their loved ones. Wait, what?
Word Count: ~14800
Notes and Warnings: Beta read by [livejournal.com profile] xcoffeespoonx. Many thanks!

I'd say I've gone full circle on this one, but I'd like to think I've still got a lot more distance to cover. See, what first got me falling sideways into Flash fandom was browsing through the other work of an author who'd written a Batman fanfic I liked and finding another one about a hapless DCAU Trickster on the run from the Justice Lords. Don't blame them, please.

Contains canon cherrypicking and attempts to patchwork it together, Hollywood lobotomy, psychic infidelity, Superdickery, doucheBattery, F-bombs, unreliable narrators, crack pairings, undue optimism, pretentiousness.

Canon notes )

"If the only reason Flash has to not just jerk the hearts out of these bloodthirsty maniacs is to keep his karma pure, well, that's just not enough. People are reformable, but even more we are all part of the moral ecosystem and you never know from where the next good act may come. We shouldn't judge people with deadly force, because our judgement isn't perfect. We all may need to be saved one day by the Golden Glider." – William Messner-Loebs

Eight days after the last known sighting of the Justice Lords, the Pied Piper returned from Apokolips. )

Title: Not the Fall that Kills You
Fandom: DC Comics (The Flash and Batman)
Rating: R
Summary: The continuing adventures of Batfamily!Trickster. The series of events our Earth knows as The Killing Joke goes off the rails, but the Joker doesn’t give up that easily.
Word Count: ~4500
Additional Notes and Warnings: Sexualized creepiness and violence. General creepiness and violence. Seriously awful jokes. Desecration of a comics classic. Flagrant abuse of allusion in general. Nobody is in a wheelchair at the end.

Okay, I admit it, there’s no actual continuity-based reason Dick Grayson and James Jesse trading places should make things as Lighter and Softer as they’re turning out the more I write in this ‘verse (I’m sure there are areas where the switch made things worse than in canon – I haven’t written them, though, aside from Golden Glider’s visit to the ER). The feeble handwave I’m using in this case is that apparently one of the pre-reboot in-verse explanations for why Barbara Gordon hasn’t been cured while multiple other characters have bounced back from even worse is because she refuses the magic and super-tech on offer, thinking it’s unfair to the general population that doesn’t have access. In this ‘verse, James lacks her rigorous moral principles.

Anyhow, here goes. Hope I didn’t fail too hard.

James strategically retreated to answer the door, buying himself a few seconds to spin an explanation that didn't involve any references to Lizzie Borden (hey, Borden rhymed with Gordon!) or hacking or parricide )

Title: Where Does He Get All Those Wonderful Toys?
Fandom: DC Comics (The Flash and Batman)
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Haley’s Circus hires the Flying Jesses instead of the Flying Graysons, and Batman takes a different orphaned boy under his wing.
Word Count: ~3700
Author's Notes and Warnings: I guess when you get together as many characters are there are in the DCU, backstory overlap is inevitable. I took this particular similarity and ran. Contains child endangerment, sexual crudity, liberties with the timeline, use of “crazy” as a pejorative, and terrible jokes.

Everybody knows James Jesse is afraid of heights )

Title: The Wolves Eat Well This Year
Fandom: Old World of Darkness (Werewolf: the Apocalypse)
Genre: Drama/Angst/Friendship
Rating: R
Word Count: ~9400
Summary: The year is 1940, and the death toll of the Winter War between Finland and the Soviet Union continues to mount. In the midst of this, a lost cub in the Red Army undergoes his First Change and finds himself at the mercy of Finnish Garou, contending with a destiny he doesn’t want.
Disclaimer: The Old World of Darkness and associated thingamabobbers aren’t mine.
Author’s Notes and Warnings: Finally managed to earmark some time to polish up another installment.

Contains violence and language, references to rape and torture, internalized homophobia and other values dissonance. On a lighter note, some bizarre but hopefully discreet shout-outs. Please note that the views of these characters certainly don’t always match my own.

Part 2 of 2 here.
teakay: (Delita Horoscope)
Because I was feeling nostalgic (see the little icon?) and just can't accept death. That garden ornament about dragging your loved one back from heaven that Elaine Cunningham thought was so creepy? I'd snap it up.

More than a year ago, while working on my wannabe Realms magnum opus/divine soap opera, I did character sketches of a dozen various folk I intended to use. That fizzled, and now I busy myself reusing their names in the Remembered Realms (Shardax the snarky Vhaeraunite spy is now Shardax the bereaved boyfriend of an Elaith Craulnober wannabe) and working them into the history and the flavor quotes.

Chaszyrd Thenduk is the latter case, and right now he gets a line at the start of Tarlyn's next chapter. Have his introduction from my old opus, tweaked slightly, in which the Selvetargtlin of Eryndlyn brainstorm new sacrificial rituals in the aftermath of Selvetarm telling Lolth to stuff it.

Selvetarm smiles on a death in battle against overwhelming odds, not a death in battle against a chit of a faerie priest waving a knife. )

Now in Remembered Realms his god's been offed, as per the book that Jossed my late lamented opus, but Chaszyrd lives on under the radar another couple hundred years, gets to be city "Weapons Master" after a number of bloody riots once Lolth's apparently followed suit, and goes on to have to an unreasonably long life, during which he produces a bunch of quotables.

Tsabrak in Remembered Realms timeline, I think, probably didn't live to see 1376.

Pointless tidbit of the day: When I was a kid and scouting out information for my school-assigned autobiography, my parents told me, among other things, that I was born later than scheduled (by less than a week, as it turned out, so not medically late) and joked it was because I didn't want to be a Halloween baby. Perhaps I was a psychic fetus and didn't want to set off any future delusions.

... as it is, I have to settle for the fifth of November.

(Can you spot the Death Note trivia semi-relevance? Huh? Huh?)

(ETA: And I thought of myself as a Pisces ever since I knew what they were. I kept nodding along with the descriptions of them in the astrology books, even the less flattering ones. When I finally did up my own star chart I was bitterly disappointed)

Now for a couple of crackdrabbles of "Remembered Realms meets selected bits of Death Note," to try and get it out of my system (though introductory psych tells me that venting, for example violence, makes it worse. Eh, anyway). Quasi-spoilers.

Double drabble featuring Red Knight incarnation versus Cyricarnation, who in the regular 'verse are coming soon (for a given definition of soon) to a fanfic near you. Language )
teakay: (Propositions)
Here's a little Remembered Realms-verse ficlet covering an incident in the lives of Veldrin Auzkovyn and Kiira Craulnober, two young gods reincarnated into a modern Faerun. Inspired by all the different holy days that fall on Midwinter in the Realms (relevant here are the Masked Lord's Embrace and the Graverending; if I messed up lore on the latter I probably did it on purpose), the idea of bits and pieces of "present" Faerunian culture being filtered into pop culture, Kiira's intermittent interest in zombies, and Veldrin being, for metaphysical reasons, the Faerunian equivalent of a Christmas baby (Kiira, meanwhile, was a leap-day baby). When he meets the reincarnations of Eilistraee, Kiaransalee, and Shevarash (at the least) they can all bond over that once they're done trying to kill each other. Or not.

Without further ado...

“I won’t sing.” )
