So this morning I saw a bug scampering along the wall in my dorm room. I tried to smash it but it dodged and then fell off the wall. When I looked under the desk it was nowhere to be seen; it could be anywhere by now. So then I looked on Wikipedia, and it matches the picture for silverfish.

For someone with as many books as I've got, this is a Problem.

So, another thing to tend to. At least they're usually nocturnal so hopefully I can pretend they're not there either until they're gone or until the deckle edge on War of the Spider Queen is looking a bit more deckled than previously.

Uhm? Silverfish?
I saw a bad case of those, but it was in a "fototeca" (= photo archive. With real gel photos) and wasn't deemed really dangerous for books.
So...why so worried?

Well, I'm not rushing out for plastic tubs or anything, but I think my books go through enough abuse without also being munched on by insects, however lightly.
