The PDF site where I've been getting my fix is having a major sale* so I've stocked up on further reading material (it would've been nice to know there was going to be one before I got the sect books, but no use crying over spilt). Among other things I scooped up the core books for aforementioned old-school Werewolf and Changeling - because you see, an even bigger time sink is just what I need.
So far out of the new lot, I've gone over Los Angeles By Night. LA as portrayed in the Bloodlines game was pretty much a clean slate as details go, and about the only canon characters brought up are Beckett and Smiling Jack. I think when I'm ficcing I can sneak in a few elements that don't clash - or handwave them, since there's a ten-year gap between the sourcebook and the game.
Random idea that I may or may not ever get around to using, largely depending on whether I ever stop reading for a moment and start writing: the use of "[a] Sebastian" as newly-developed Free State anarch slang for a Camarilla prince or maybe ranking member in general, seeing as the would-be Prince of Los Angeles in Bloodlines, Sebastian LaCroix, happens to share the name with the pre-revolt Prince of Los Angeles in canon. It might've been an intentional nod, as his last name is apparently a Forever Knight reference.
*The site in question, as a hopeful compromise between plugging and playing coy.
