In which I yap on and on
Sunday, 7 June 2009 04:57 pmI've spent a good chunk of the last week playing Bloodlines, with the same probably going for the coming week, and I'm currently not far from descending into the infamous sewer level. I'm quite enamored of the game thus far, though my opinion may change considering what I've heard of the upcoming tone shift and increased emphasis on combat. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
My starting character, for those who might care, is a Toreador, and I've enjoyed the few unique dialogue asides they have (though after some Youtubing I'm somewhat disappointed to realize that the one guy with the prosthetics fixation raving over my character's "beautiful arms" isn't clan-specific after all). I think I've got a fair roleplay narrative running (even the mad flailing around in combat, you see, is perfectly in character for someone discovering his newfound vampiric Waif Fu, and that this was a natural reaction only makes it better. Yes, let's go with that) except perhaps for the bit where I lost patience with stealth missions and he proceeded to lay waste to the night shift of museum security with a fire axe.
I'm really tempted to do some fic, though I'd like to hold off until I finish the game and probably do some more reading about the 'verse as a whole.

Date: Monday, 8 June 2009 02:20 am (UTC)Though the prosthetic arms fixation could be Toreador, different Toreador have a lot of different interests and I can see how a Toreador might see these perfect and vitally functional sculptures as beautiful works of art. Then again any clan could have some reason to be enamored with them.
If you need any quick references about the 'verse, you know where to reach me. I'm not familiar with Bloodlines in particular but I have a whole shelf of old VtM books I've gone through a lot.

Date: Monday, 8 June 2009 05:04 am (UTC)I wasn't quite clear. The character with the prosthetics fixation was a normal human (for a given value of "normal" - see below), and I thought at first that the "beautiful arms" comment was an extra when playing a Toreador character, similar to his possible comment on a Malkavian character's speech patterns. Then I found a video on Youtube where he had the same reaction to a Gangrel. It makes sense in retrospect, since he probably intended to chop Our Hero's arms off no matter the clan.
